Wright, Slafkovsky, Cooley skate on the South Shore

BROSSARD -- Some of the top prospects in the 2022 NHL Draft participated in a youth hockey clinic at the Bell Sports Complex on Wednesday.

Shane Wright, Juraj Slafkovsky, Logan Cooley, Cutter Gauthier, Matt Savoie and Conor Geekie hit the ice with a group of lucky youngsters.
Jonathan Drouin and Nick Suzuki laced up their skates as well.
Earlier this week, general manager Kent Hughes confirmed that the Canadiens were deciding between Wright, Slafkovsky and Cooley for the first overall pick.
The top-ranked prospect in Central Scouting's final ranking of North American skaters, Wright would be honored to be selected in the No. 1 spot at the Bell Centre on Thursday night.

"Montreal is where I'd like to go. That's where I want to be. Walking around the city, it's a beautiful city and it's an unbelievable city. I really love what they have going so far. I had a great phone call with Martin St-Louis and Vincent Lecavalier. We had really positive talks and positive conversations. Marty is such a smart coach. He was such a smart player in his playing days. They also have a lot of young talent as well with all the young players," said Wright, who enjoyed a standout season with the OHL's Kingston Frontenacs. "I want to be part of this. I want to be part of this organization and be part of building something special here, and I think I can help contribute to that."
Like Wright, Cooley would relish the opportunity to join the Canadiens' fold.
The 18-year-old American center appreciated everything about the atmosphere at the South Shore practice facility.
"It's such a special place here. It's a place that I can really see myself here," said Cooley, the second-ranked North American prospect behind Wright. "I love being here. All the history here, it would be a special place to play."

Interacting with a few NHLers was a real treat, too.
"Drouin just kind of said, 'Just enjoy it.' It was a really fun time with Suzuki. I just talked about where I'm going to school next year," added Cooley, who is committed to the University of Minnesota. "They're both really good guys and it was really nice talking to them."
